Registered with you a while ago and would have expected a daily update on how my application is progressing. How do I know you are genuinely working on my behalf?

All our candidates are important to us but we have literally tens of thousands of job seekers on our database, with between 1500 & 2500 new resumes coming in every day. Obviously, they are not all looking for a new job at the same time but, even so, daily updates to all of them would be impossible. If you don’t hear from us for a while, it’s not because we’ve forgotten about you but because we don’t currently have any vacancies that match your needs, skills and requirements. Please remember that we are client lead and have to work the job searches our clients give us to fill. However, feel free to give us a call or drop us an email if you’d like a specific update.

Can you guarantee that you’ll find me a job?

We cannot promise to find a job for every candidate who registers but we will do our best to match you up with suitable roles and employers as they come in.

Can I register with more than one agency?

Yes, as many as you like, though you may want to choose one or two which specialise in your particular market and field. Many of our candidates register exclusively with us but the choice is yours. Working with one good agency will ensure that you are well represented and that your CV is not scatter-gunned to every vacancy that becomes available whether it suits you or not. Believe me – there are unscrupulous agents out there that do this, so be careful!

If you place someone in a role do you take a percentage of their earnings?

No. There is no charge to the candidate and your salary is yours to keep. Our placement bills are settled fully by the client who gives us the job search.

Do I have to pay to register?

No. All the candidates who register with us do so free of charge. This includes an interview with one of our consultants, help and advice formatting your CV, advice on career planning and salary expectations, interview tips and reference checks and relocation advise as well as following up on the “onboarding” process.

Can you help me find a job?

Yes. Hospitality Search International offers a variety of tools to help you in your job search, including:

  • A list of our career opportunities
  • Resume writing assistance
  • Career coaching services
  • Our blog containing numerous articles
  • Our YouTube channel providing some helpful tips

However, HSI does not directly present candidates to employers unless that employer is an active client with a job opportunity that matches your skills.

What are the next steps after I apply for a position on line?

Whilst our recruiters review your information, we recommend the following next steps:

1. Sign up for email alerts when new positions are added in your area. The email alert sign up form is here

2. Review our Career Opportunities for other positions. Apply directly for any other positions that match your background.

3. Join or update your LinkedIn Profile. Today, companies and recruiters rely heavily on LinkedIn to find qualified candidates like you. Whilst there, follow Hospitality Search International on LinkedIn.

4. Follow us on Twitter, Google+ and Facebook for real-time updates of new positions.

5. Check out our Career Services to help you along in your search.

What should I do if I haven’t heard back from you from my application?

Due to the volume of applicants that Hospitality Search International receives for our positions, we appreciate your patience while our recruiters review your background. You will be contacted if there is a fundamental match with an active open position. If you have not been contacted within 4-5 days and you feel strongly about your candidacy and ability to meet the requirements outlined feel free to call the office.

Can someone review my resume and give me advise?

In the event you are presented to one of our clients for an open position, Hospitality Search International will provide feedback on your resume to help emphasize your strengths for a position to make sure you put your best foot forward.

How should I prepare for an interview?

We recommend that you download our Interview Toolbox for advice on preparing for your interview. If you are actively engaged with our recruiter on a position, please contact that recruiter for advice or to answer any questions you have. When you are selected for an interview we will always give you a specific interview brief to help you prepare.

What’s the first thing you do with a new candidate?

We get to know you, get to know what kind of role you looking for and where, as well as what kind of role wouldsuit your background. Our priority is making sure that we don’t simply throw a candidate into a job that isn’t right for them.

What kind of jobs can you help me find?

Good hospitality professionals are always in demand, but we also place candidates in all levels of the Hospitality Industry.

I’m looking for contract and permanent work. Can you help?

We do not deal with short-term or temporary roles. Our main function is long-term and permanent placements in the Hospitality Industry around the world.

How often do you talk to candidates?

How much we call you depends on how often you want contact from us. We welcome candidates picking up the phone to us, too.

Why can’t I upload my CV?

There may be a rare occasion when you are unable to upload your CV due to a technical glitch. If this happens, feel free to contact our Candidate Services team on apply@hospitalitysearch.co.ukletting them know which vacancy you are applying for.

Are all of your vacancies advertised on your website?

No. If we do not require additional candidates for a specific role then we speak and select candidates that are already known to us. If you do not see a role that suits your skills on or website it is always advisable to send us your resume directly.
